Neufin is hiring an engineer who is keen to transition to hand-on AI product management.
Neufin delivers clean, low-cost electricity to India's mid-market through its proprietary platform, Lumen, which integrates IoT data with predictive AI to optimize electricity costs and enable clean energy compliance and energy orchestration.
This role sits between engineering and product. You will still ship code, but you will also own what gets built and why: talking to customers, writing the spec, cutting scope, and measuring whether the feature actually worked. It suits someone with a few years of solid engineering behind them who has started caring more about the problem than the stack.
Location: Bengaluru (In-office)
Role Type: Full-time
Neufin is a tech-led energy retailer delivering clean, low-cost and flexible energy to India's mid-market Commercial & Industrial businesses.
Our energy software, Lumen, helps businesses track, pay, and optimise their electricity costs (โน/kWh). By integrating real-time IoT data with predictive AI, we enable lower power costs and easier compliance with clean energy targets.
Our teams don't just use AI tools; they've integrated them into their daily routine. That means writing code by orchestrating agents, reviewing agent output with sharp judgment, and architecting systems that agents can work in at high velocity.
We're looking for engineers who have genuinely restructured how they work around AI - who use tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or similar not as autocomplete, but as collaborators they manage and review. Engineers who can spin up and manage a whole agentic workforce, while at the same time be deeply embedded with customer problems.
Product
Own a product area end to end, from problem discovery through launch and adoption
Talk directly to plant managers, energy heads, and finance teams to understand how they actually buy and consume power
Write clear PRDs that define the problem, the scope, the non-goals, and the success metric
Prioritise ruthlessly and defend what you cut
Instrument features and report whether they moved the metric
Turn ambiguous business asks into a detailed roadmap the engineering team can execute
Engineering
Build and ship features across React dashboards and Python backend services
Prototype quickly to validate an idea before committing the team to it
Design data models and APIs that stay simple as the product grows
Architect LLM-ready databases and code by prioritising strong typing, modular design, and comprehensive technical documentation
Review specs and designs with the same rigour you would review a pull request
Technical:
2โ3 years professional software development experience
Backend: Python (FastAPI/Django) or Node.js proficiency
Frontend: React.js with TypeScript, enough to build a real feature unaided
Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred: Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, BigQuery) and Docker
SQL fluency and comfort pulling your own numbers rather than requesting them
Active AI coding tool usage with adapted development practices
Schema design for high-volume data systems
Product:
Instances where you changed what got built, not just how: a feature you argued for or against, scope you pushed back on, a requirement you rewrote after talking to a user
Ability to have a customer conversation and come back with a sharpened problem statement
Clear ability to understand numbers, metrics and measure the success/failure of your work.
Comfort making decisions with incomplete data and writing down the assumption you made
Clear verbal and written communication
You want to understand how the electricty markets / energy sector work and how data can solve the climate crisis.
You thrive in a 0-to-1 environment and prefer shipping over over-engineering.
You enjoy working across functions - sitting with a finance team on their tariff structure one day and a field engineer on hardware maintenance the next.
Have already made the move from engineering into product, or held a founding or early-team role where you did both
You are passionate about the the energy transition and see it as a means to empower businesses and the nation
Have built B2B products sold to industrial or commercial buyers
Have worked in energy: renewables, storage, EV, utilities, or carbon accounting
Have handled time-series or IoT data, and know the ways it arrives dirty
๐ช Highly competitive salaries, including attractive stock options.
๐ก๏ธ Comprehensive health insurance for you and your spouse.
๐ A yearly learning allowance to master new technologies.
๐โโ๏ธ A yearly wellness allowance for physical and mental health.
Think you have the right mix of product and engineering skills with a passion for energy?
