Neufin is hiring a sharp, experienced and analytically rigorous professional to join us as an Energy Trader.
India has over 1 Lakh mid-market commercial and industrial businesses that are still buying expensive electricity from their local DISCOMs. Neufin's innovative structured renewable energy contracts can cut their electricity costs by upto 50%, but most don't know where to start. That awareness and execution gap is the opportunity.

We are looking for candidates with hands-on IEX trading experience, strong commercial instincts, and the operational discipline to manage a live trading book with real financial consequences. Neufin is a tech-led energy retailer delivering clean, low-cost and flexible energy to India's mid-market Commercial & Industrial businesses.
Our energy software, Lumen, helps businesses track, pay, and optimise their electricity costs (₹/kWh). By integrating real-time IoT data with predictive AI, we enable lower power costs and easier compliance with clean energy targets.
Your responsibility will be to manage Neufin's electricity trading strategies and trading book— from daily IEX scheduling and execution to derivatives hedging, settlement, and market intelligence. Extreme ownership and a strong bias for systematising everything are non-negotiable
IEX Execution: Execute buy and sell transactions across IEX's Day-Ahead Market (DAM), Green Day-Ahead Market (GDAM), and Term-Ahead Market (TAM). Make real-time decisions on when to honour contracted supply versus sell on-exchange. Track execution against optimal outcomes and document learnings.
Energy Scheduling & Dispatch: Manage daily and monthly energy scheduling in coordination with SLDCs and supply-side partners. Build and maintain scheduling processes that scale as the trading book grows.
Derivatives Hedging: Monitor and manage open positions using electricity derivative instruments. Design and maintain the hedging framework that protects Neufin's Resell margin across varying customer volumes, plant generation profiles, and market price movements. Propose and implement hedging strategies for new supply contracts.
Trade Book Management: Own the trading book end-to-end: volumes, prices, P&L, deviation penalties, and settlement statements. Build the daily reconciliation process. Produce weekly trade reports for the Head of Supply & Commercial Strategy and the founding team.
Market Analysis: Analyse IEX price patterns, seasonal trends, and deviation market dynamics to inform trading strategy. Develop a point of view on exchange pricing that goes beyond historical averages — and be willing to act on it.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay current on CERC trading regulations, exchange rules, and derivative market guidelines. Ensure Neufin's trading operations remain fully compliant as our licence category (V) and trading volumes grow.
Minimum 5-7 years in energy trading, power markets, trading company, DISCOM, or exchange member.
Hands-on IEX trading experience (DAM, GDAM, TAM) mandatory.
Understanding of deviation settlement mechanisms (DSM) and scheduling compliance.
Strong analytical skills — comfortable with large datasets, P&L models, and deviation reports.
Detail-oriented and process-driven. Errors in a live trading book have direct financial consequences.
Ability to make time-sensitive decisions under pressure with incomplete information.
The right attitude toward a sense of urgency, risk, and ambiguity that comes naturally with working at an early-stage startup.
